Toyota has sold more than 11 million cars globally, with popular models like Corolla, RAV4, Camry, and Yaris. While some brands are heavily investing in electric cars, Toyota has sold only 3.42 million hybrids and 104 thousand fully electric cars out of the total sales.

Toyota, a leading Japanese automaker, plans to increase its investments in electric vehicles in the future despite already being a frontrunner in the industry in 2022. The company saw a 7.2% growth in sales compared to the previous year and anticipates further expansion in the upcoming years.

Around 11.23 million out of the 90 million cars sold globally in 2023 were Toyota vehicles, accounting for approximately 1 out of every 8 cars sold.

Volkswagen holds the second position.

Volkswagen, a major player in the automotive industry, achieved the second spot in the rankings. With a rise of 12% in sales, the company sold 9.2 million vehicles. However, it missed out on claiming the top position due to losing market share to BYD in China.
