84% of homes in Brazil are connected to the internet, which amounts to 64 million households, marking a notable rise from 80% in 2022.

People with fewer resources are also helping to drive this growth, as evidenced by the significant increase in internet access among lower-income families in the C and DE classes, reaching 87% to 91% and 60% to 67% respectively.

Around 29 million Brazilians, primarily residing in urban areas, are still without access, as indicated by the positive report. This group includes a significant number of older individuals and those with lower levels of education.

Cellular dominance

The increase in internet usage in Brazil is largely attributed to the device that is most commonly used daily. Nowadays, the majority of people primarily use their mobile phones to connect to the internet, accounting for around 58% of users, which is a decrease from the previous year’s 62%.

Some families in rural areas and the Northeast of Brazil share the internet with neighbors, indicating that connectivity challenges persist for many individuals.

Research indicates that further efforts are needed to enhance internet access for a broader population, particularly for individuals encountering challenges.
